This three-hour course is devoted to the requirements for operating and maintaining a safe and secure detention facility, as set forth in Chapter 34 of the New Jersey Administration Code. The “Cell Block Management” segment will review sound security practices and the minimum requirements for supervising detainees will be stressed. The “Suicide Awareness” segment will focus on such topics as the profiling of suicidal detainees, the screening and supervision of such detainees, the various ways in which detainees may attempt suicide, the liability factor and appropriate policy and procedures for handling suicide attempts.
