Two Fatalities in Boonton Township

Morris County Prosecutor Fredric M. Knapp and Boonton Township Police Chief Paul Fortunato confirm an ongoing investigation into an incident that occurred yesterday in Boonton Township, New Jersey.  On October 1, 2014, at approximately 3:46 p.m., the Boonton Township Police Department received a 911 call requesting assistance to 434 Rockaway Valley Road, a private residence in Boonton Township. 
A massive response was undertaken for search and rescue efforts.  Ultimately, two fatalities were confirmed.  At this time, the identities of these individuals are not being released. 
The investigation into this incident is ongoing.  We do not anticipate any further update today.
Responding to this incident were multiple agencies within the State.  They included the Morris County Prosecutor's Office, the Morris County Sheriff's Office, the Office of the Morris County Medical Examiner, the Morris County Office of Emergency Management, the Boonton Township Police Department, the Morris County Park Police, the Newark Fire Department, the Paterson Fire Department, the Elizabeth Fire Department, the Madison Fire Department, the Boonton Township Fire Department, the Town of Boonton Fire Department, the New Jersey State Police, the Morristown Fire Department, the Hackensack Fire Department, the Kinnelon Fire Department, the Morris Plains Fire Department, the Bayonne Fire Department, the Jersey City Fire Department, USAI Strike Team, the New Jersey State Police USAR Task Force, Urban Search and Rescue Task Force, the Boonton Township EMS, Boonton Kiwanis and Paramedics from St. Clare's Hospital and Atlantic Health.
