The Progression of the Morris County Prosecutor's Office Prescription Drug Take-Back Day Continues

Morris County Prosecutor Fredric M. Knapp announces that the 12th Annual Operation Prescription Drug Take-Back Day Program was again a beneficial venture contributing to the health and safety of our citizens.

This initiative encouraged individuals to anonymously turn in unused, unwanted or expired prescriptions and over-the-counter medications into secure drop boxes. It is a safe, convenient, and responsible means of disposing of drugs, while also educating the general public about the potential for the abuse of medications. After the event, law enforcement officials disposed of these substances in an environmentally safe manner.

Held on Saturday October 22, 2016, members from the Morris County Prosecutor's Office partnered with members from the Morris Plains Borough Police Department, Morris Township Police Department and the Randolph Township Police Department at three satellite locations in Morris County, where a total of 287 pounds of medications was collected.

The following is a list of the locations and amounts collected during this event:

Morris Plains 115 Pounds

Morris Township 61 Pounds

Randolph 111 Pounds

Prosecutor Knapp stated, Once again our efforts to educate the public on the need to properly dispose of their unused, unwanted or expired medications have met with success. It is my hope that this trend continues, not just during Operation Prescription Drug Take-Back Day, but during the course of the year by utilizing one of the many permanent drop boxes located throughout Morris County.
