Morris County Prosecutor Fredric M. Knapp announces that on August 24, 2016 the Morris County Prosecutor's Office received the official re-accreditation certificate from the New Jersey State Association of Chiefs of Police (NJSACOP) at the Morris County Freeholder's work session meeting.
Prosecutor Knapp, standing on the right, accepted the award from NJSACOP Accreditation Program Manager Harry J. Delgado located in the center. To the left is former president of the NJSACOP and current Police Chief of Denville Township Police Department Christopher Wagner.
The NJSACOP Accreditation Program consists of one hundred and five (105) professional standards, many of which have multiple objectives. The program consists of five (5) primary areas including the Administrative Function, Personnel Function, Operations Function, Investigative Function and the Arrestee Handling Function. It is a three (3) year internal analysis of agency operations and ensures that policies and procedures are current, reflect societal demands, and are consistent with best practices for law enforcement in the state of New Jersey. After the three (3) year process, a team of NJSACOP trained and independent assessors review the policies, procedures and agency operations as a whole. To become re-accredited, the policies and procedures must be approved by the assessors, and there must be definitive proof of personnel adherence.
The Morris County Prosecutor's Office, initially accredited in 2013, was approved for re-accreditation by the NJSACOP Board on June 9, 2016.
