Shooting Death in Mount Olive

Acting Morris County Prosecutor Fredric M. Knapp and Mount Olive Police Chief Mark Spitzer, in a joint statement, announce that they are actively investigating the circumstances of a shooting death at 2 Apollo Way in the Flanders section of Mount Olive, N.J.  They related that on March 3, 2014, at approximately 9:59pm, the MOPD received a 911 call related to an incident at the Apollo Way residence.
Patrol units from the Mount Olive Police Department responded to the location, where a deceased male was located.  A joint investigation into the incident then commenced.
At this time, the investigation remains active and ongoing. There is no known threat to the community as this incident appears to be an isolated incident. The identity of the deceased is being withheld pending proper identification and notification of the next of kin. A suspect has been identified whose identity is not being released at this time.
Members of the Mount Olive Police Department, the Morris County Prosecutor's Office, Major Crimes Unit, and the Morris County Sheriff's Office, Criminal Investigation Section, continue to investigate this matter. Due to the ongoing nature of the investigation, no additional information will be released at this time.
