Parsippany Man Sentenced to 20 Years in Prison for Aggravated Manslaughter

Acting Morris County Prosecutor Fredric M. Knapp announces that the Honorable Stuart A. Minkowitz, P.J.Cr. sentenced Jiu Zian Zheng, 43 years old, formerly of Parsippany, New Jersey to 20 years in State Prison in connection with the death of his wife, Yun Fei Lin, 33 years old, on October 5, 2012 at Kazumi Sushi restaurant, located at 81 North Beverwyck Road in the Lake Hiawatha section of Parsippany. The defendant also received a 5 year sentence for Attempted Aggravated Assault.
On October 2, 2013, defendant pleaded guilty to Aggravated Manslaughter, and Aggravated Assault with a Weapon in connection with an attempted assault on Ren Lin, the victim's business partner.
The defendant was arrested on October 6, 2012 and charged with Murder, Possession of a Weapon for an Unlawful Purpose and Unlawful Possession of a Weapon. Bail was set at $1,000,000 cash by the Honorable Philip J. Maenza, J.S.C. Defendant was unable to post bail and was remanded to the Morris County Correctional Facility. The Aggravated Assault charge was added to the Accusation, following a continued investigation.
Judge Minkowitz sentenced the defendant in accordance with the plea agreement, to a total of 20 years in New Jersey State Prison for the Aggravated Manslaughter. He is required to serve 85 percent of his sentence under New Jersey's No Early Release Act (NERA) before becoming eligible for parole, for that Count. As for the Third Degree Aggravated Assault, he was sentenced to five (5) years New Jersey State prison, concurrent to the Aggravated Manslaughter.
