Morristown Man Sentenced to 7 Years in Prison for Pleading Guilty to Three County of Burglary and One County of Receiving Stolen Property

Acting Morris County Prosecutor Fredric M. Knapp announced today that the Honorable Mary Gibbons Whipple sentenced Eugene Hayes Jr., age 41 of Morristown, New Jersey to 7 years in State Prison in connection with guilty pleas to three counts of Third Degree Burglary and one count of Third Degree Receiving Stolen Property.

On June 5, 2013, Hayes pled guilty to three counts of Third Degree Burglary. The first guilty plea was in connection with burglarizing a residence on Olyphant Drive in Morristown, New Jersey on October 17, 2010. Hayes also pled guilty to burglarizing a 2003 Ford Focus on May 27, 2011 which was parked in front of a home located on Burnham Road in Morris Township, New Jersey. He next pled guilty to burglarizing the Yummy Yummy restaurant on Speedwell Avenue in Morris Township on May 27, 2011. Lastly, defendant pled guilty to receiving stolen jewelry in Morristown on October 8, 2010.

Judge Whipple sentenced Hayes to 7 years in State Prison. The judge granted the State's extended term motion and denied his entry into Drug Court. The defendant is responsible for all fines, assessments and penalties.
