Morristown Man Sentenced to 20 Years in Prison for Aggravated Sexual Assault

Acting Morris County Prosecutor Fredric M. Knapp announces that the Honorable Robert Gilson, J.S.C. sentenced Milton Argueta-Benitez, 45 years old, of Morristown, New Jersey to 20 years in State Prison in connection with acts of sexual abuse against two victims of which the defendant is related to by blood or affinity.
On April 29, 2013, defendant pled guilty to one count First Degree Aggravated Sexual Assault and one count Second Degree Sexual Assault. Defendant had originally been charged on a 35 count indictment with various sexual offenses involving the two victims in question.
The defendant admitted to numerous acts of penetration against one victim while she was between 13 and 15 and numerous acts of sexual contact with the second victim while she was under the age of 13.  The acts of abuse occurred over the course of eight years between 1999 and 2007.  The acts occurred in Dover, Randolph and Roxbury but were initially reported to Morristown Police.  Det. Marshall Wang of the Morris County Prosecutor's Office Sex Crimes/Child Endangerment Unit led the investigation.
Judge Gilson sentenced defendant to 20 years in State Prison subject to the No Early Release Act. The defendant will also be subject to Parole and Community Supervision for Life as well as registration pursuant to Megan's Law.
Supervising Assistant Prosecutor/SDAG Meg Rodriguez represented the State at the sentencing.
Acting Morris County Prosecutor Knapp thanked Police Chief Peter Demnitz and the Morristown Police Department, specifically Detective Keith Hudson and Sgt. Tyrone Jackson for their assistance at the beginning of the investigation, as well as the Morris County Prosecutor's Office Sex Crimes/Child Endangerment Unit for the efforts resulting in today's sentence.
