Morris County Prosecutor's Office joins NOBLE and the Calvary Baptist Church in hosting The Law and Your Community and the Safe Stop Programs

On Saturday, May 5, 2018 the Morris County Prosecutor's Office and the National Organization of Black Law Enforcement Executives (NOBLE), hosted a two hour community outreach event at the Calvary Baptist Church in Morristown, NJ.
The Law and Your Community is a NOBLE national initiative encompassing positive police interactions in every aspect of life.
The Safe Stop program, developed and promoted by the New Jersey State Attorney General's Office in conjunction with NOBLE, aims to ensure that every traffic stop in New Jersey ends safely for all involved parties by informing our citizens on what to do, and what not to do during a traffic stop.
Detective Kim L. Nelson-Edwards, Correspondence Secretary for NOBLE and an active New Jersey police officer, presented both programs for those in attendance.

During this event, Morris County Prosecutor Fredric M. Knapp, Morris County Prosecutor's Office Detective Patrick LaGuerre, and Detective Nelson-Edwards met with members of the Morris County community with the primary goal of continuing to develop relationships through positive and informative interaction.
I am very encouraged by the efforts of the law enforcement community and our citizens during this worth-while event, said Prosecutor Knapp. Bridging any communication gap that exists between the police and our citizens helps strengthen the fabric of our community, and society as a whole, he said. We hope to continue this dialogue to address many concerns and to enhance relations with law enforcement.
The Morris County Prosecutor's Office plans to continue efforts to meet with community members to enhance relationships with law enforcement. Programs with NOBLE and other community based organizations will be announced in the coming months. Prosecutor Knapp thanks all who participated in this event, especially Pastor Jerry Carter and Pastor Daryl Griffin of the Calvary Baptist Church for hosting the program, and to NOBLE for an excellent presentation.
