Morris County Prosecutor's Office Partners with Morris County Sheriff's Office in PAARI Program

Published on April 03, 2019

On April 3, 2019, Morris County Prosecutor Fredric Knapp joined Morris County Sheriff James M. Gannon for a press conference to announce the launch of the Morris County Sheriff's Office Hope One-Police Assisted Addiction Recovery Initiative (PAARI) at the Morris County Office of Emergency Management. The speakers at the event included Prosecutor Knapp, Daytop-NJ Executive Director Jim Curtin, Morris County Chiefs of Police Association President and Butler Police Chief Ciro Chimento, PAARI-USA Executive Director Allie Hunter-McDade, Morris County Sheriff's Office Corporal Erica Valvano, and Certified Peer Recovery Specialist Kelly LaBar.

The Hope One-PAARI program is an initiative designed to assist individuals suffering from substance use disorder. The partnerships created between law enforcement agencies and treatment facilities through PAARI will ultimately aid in connecting those individuals proactively seeking treatment with the people who can provide it. This initiative enables those members of law enforcement, who are often the first point of contact, to play a larger role in ensuring those suffering from substance use disorder can receive the treatment they need.

Prosecutor Knapp said, We are proud to partner with Sheriff Gannon and our municipal law enforcement partners in the launch of the Hope One-PAARI Program. The Heroin and Opioid Epidemic has ravaged our county, our state, and our country for too long. The law enforcement community in Morris County has come together to work closely with our treatment community to aid as many as possible in breaking free of this horrific disease.
