Published on October 17, 2018
On October 17, 2018, Supervising Assistant Prosecutor Samantha DeNegri and Detective Supervisor Patrick LaGuerre of the Morris County Prosecutor's Office provided an educational assembly for the 6th, 7th, and 8th grade students at Chatham Middle School. The assembly focused on bias crimes and incidents, as well as internet safety.
The students were instructed on the importance of safe internet usage, the consequences that can stem from committing a cyber-crime, and the differences between a bias crime and a bias incident. The morning was divided into three sessions, with each grade receiving their own presentation in order to provide every student with the opportunity to raise questions throughout the program. This educational assembly provided both the Chatham Middle School students, as well as their teachers and administrators with important information to maintain a safe and healthy school environment.
Morris County Prosecutor Fredric Knapp said, The Morris County Prosecutor's Office is proud to continue working with educators throughout Morris County in providing these young men and women with the necessary information to safely navigate through the internet and to maintain a bias free school environment".
