Morris County Prosecutor's Office Hosts Informational Assembly at Gottesman RTW Academy

On December 7, 2018, Morris County Prosecutor Fredric Knapp, Supervising Assistant Prosecutor Samantha DeNegri, and Detective Supervisor Patrick LaGuerre of the Morris County Prosecutor's Office provided an educational program for the 6th, 7th, and 8th grade students at Gottesman RTW Academy in Randolph. The assembly covered the topics of internet safety, as well as bias crimes and incidents.

Prosecutor Knapp provided opening remarks to the students, in which he explained the various functions of the Morris County Prosecutor's Office including educating the public. Following Prosecutor Knapp's remarks, SAP DeNegri and Detective LaGuerre instructed the students on the importance of safe internet usage, consequences that can stem from committing a cyber or bias crime, and the difference between bias crimes and bias incidents. Following the presentation, the students and staff members in attendance were able to ask questions about the information provided.

Prosecutor Knapp stated, I would like to thank Gottesman RTW Academy for hosting this educational assembly this morning. It is important that we provide these young men and women of Morris County with the necessary information to create and thrive in a safe and healthy school environment. The Morris County Prosecutor's Office will continue working with educators throughout the county to hold these programs.
