Morris County Prosecutor Fredric M. Knapp, First Assistant Prosecutor Thomas A. Zelante, Acting Chief of Investigations Chris Kimker, and Director of Morris County Critical Infrastructure Patrick Owens visited Dean Rabbi Moshe Herson and other administrators at the Rabbinical College of America in Morristown on January 23, 2020.
The purpose of the visit was to discuss security for the facility, to meet with leaders and learn about their day-to-day operations. The Rabbinical College of America is home to about 500 students, including an on-campus K-8 school and 300 higher education students from 14 countries and 24 states. The school is also a hub for over 60 Chabad community-service organizations.
Prosecutor Knapp said We remain available to the faith-based community members of all denominations, to visit their houses of worship to conduct site assessments and offer advice concerning security. Rabbi Herson and the RCA have extended their hospitality to the MCPO and we are very grateful for the opportunity to meet.
The Morris County Prosecutor's Office Special Operations Division conducts assessments to enhance the security of facilities throughout the county, including churches, synagogues, other religious facilities of all denominations, schools, hospitals, and other public buildings. Director Owens regularly conducts site assessments upon request of the facility representative for all denominations.
