Morris County Prosecutor's Office Detective Presents Scholarships at 32nd Annual NOBLE Awards

On June 21, 2019, Morris County Prosecutor Fredric Knapp, Detective Spence Osaigbovo, and Detective Corinne Mason attended the Northern New Jersey National Organization of Black Law Enforcement Executives (NOBLE) 32nd Annual Scholarship and Awards Dinner. The program also recognized several prominent community leaders and elected officials. The Northern New Jersey Chapter of NOBLE was recognized as the National Large Chapter of the Year at the 2018 NOBLE National Conference for their efforts in fostering strong relationships between law enforcement and the communities they serve. The event was held at the Pines Manor in Edison, New Jersey.

Following welcoming remarks from Chapter President and Commissioner of the New Jersey Police Training Commission Jiles H. Ship, Detective Osaigbovo, a member of the Scholarship Committee, presented scholarships to seven graduating high school seniors on behalf of the Northern New Jersey Chapter of NOBLE. The recipients exemplify the core principles of NOBLE which include, respect, integrity, community, and diversity.

After the awarding of scholarships, President Ship presented awards to the following Women of Excellence for their contributions to the community: NJ Legislative District #22 Assemblywoman Linda S. Carter, Trenton Police Department Director Sheilah A. Coley, RWJBarnabas Health Executive Vice President Michellene Davis, Plainfield Police Department Sergeant Masahin A. El-Amin, NJ Legislative District #31 Assemblywoman Angela V. McKnight, NJ Legislative District #15 Assemblywoman Verlina Reynolds-Jackson, retired Essex County Prosecutor's Office Chief Quovella M. Spruill, Multicutural Healthcare Marketing Group President/CEO Sheila L. Thorne, and NJ Legislative District #34 Assemblywoman Britnee N. Timberlake. Detective Mason assisted in the presentation of the awards to the honored women.

Prosecutor Knapp commented on the efforts of NOBLE, The Northern New Jersey Chapter of NOBLE continues to successfully better our communities. I was honored to have attended the program and was pleased to see Detective Osaigbovo presenting scholarships to those deserving students and Detective Mason's participation in honoring community leaders.
