On November 2, 2018, Temple B'nai Or of Morristown held a special Show up for Shabbat service which was open to all members of the Morris County community. Temple B'nai Or's Rabbi David Katz and Cantor Galit Cohen welcomed Morris County residents of all religious backgrounds to the service, as a sign of unity following the horrible events at the Tree of Life Synagogue in Pittsburgh. Morris County Prosecutor Fredric Knapp, Mrs. Ellie Knapp, Detective/Supervisor Patrick LaGuerre, Public Information Officer Peter DiGennaro, and other community leaders joined the congregation for a beautiful service focused on memorializing the victims who lost their lives at the Tree of Life Synagogue.
Temple B'nai Or President Michele Murray and Vice President Joel D. Katz, organized this religious service with the hope of bringing the members of the community together. Following the service, the congregation came together for refreshments and a time to meet with other members of the county, as well as those joining for the first time.
Prosecutor Knapp stated, Rabbi Katz and Cantor Cohen hosted a beautiful service. It is important for the community to stand together in a time like this, and I would like to thank Temple B'nai Or for inviting me and members of the Morris County Prosecutor's Office to join them for this Shabbat. The Morris County Prosecutor's Office is committed to continue working with our local partners of all religions to ensure everyone has the ability to practice their religion safely.
