Morris County Prosecutor Recognizes Detective Supervisor and His Family Upon Receiving Award

Morris County Prosecutor Fredric M. Knapp offers his congratulations to Morris County Prosecutor's Office Detective Supervisor Ramon Lopez and his family members who were 2019 recipients of the United Puerto Rican Council's Career Achievement Award. The Lopez family was honored at the United Puerto Rican Council's annual gala on Saturday, November 30, 2019.

The award recognized Detective Supervisor Lopez and his family for their commitment to the safety of the public and volunteerism in the community. Also recognized in the ceremony with Detective Supervisor Lopez were his mother, Aida Lopez who founded her own non-profit programs, volunteers for the American Red Cross and has authored books on Domestic Violence, and his brothers, Leandro Alicea and Alejandro Alicea, who are both firefighters for the City of Paterson.

As a current Detective Supervisor of the Special Enforcement Unit, Lopez is a 13-year veteran of law enforcement. A former police officer in the New Jersey Human Services Police Department, since his appointment to the Morris County Prosecutor's Office in 2011, Detective Supervisor Lopez has served in the Intelligence/Homeland Security, Domestic Violence, General Investigations, Major Crimes and Special Enforcement Units.

In 2014, Detective Supervisor Lopez was named Officer of the Year by the New Jersey Narcotics Enforcement Officers Association. In 2016, he received the Morris County Prosecutor's Office Life Saving Award, and was also recognized with the Exceptional Duty Award by the Dover Police Department.

In 2002, Detective Supervisor Lopez founded the Silk City Rangers Baseball Program, a non-profit youth organization in Paterson, and has been recognized by that city for his mentorship through the program.

Prosecutor Knapp said, I am honored to congratulate Detective Supervisor Lopez and his family for receiving this prestigious career achievement award. He and his family have an established record of community service that can serve as a model for others to follow.
