Morris County Prosecutor Presents Clergy Community Outreach Program on the Heroin and Opiate Epidemic

Morris County Prosecutor Fredric M. Knapp announces that on Wednesday September 28, 2016, the Morris County Prosecutor's Office will host its third Clergy Community Outreach Program. The topic of this event will be on the heroin and opiate epidemic that our community is experiencing. The audience will include clergy from various faiths, government officials, and law enforcement officials from Morris County. The guest speakers will be New Jersey State Assemblyman Anthony M. Bucco who serves Legislative District 25 in Morris and Somerset counties, and Assemblyman Joseph A. Lagana who serves Legislative District 38 in Bergen and Passaic counties.

The program will begin with introductory remarks given by Prosecutor Knapp and Assemblyman Bucco, followed by guest speaker Assemblyman Lagana who recently introduced a comprehensive legislative package to help combat the ongoing opioid and heroin crisis in New Jersey. Morris County Prosecutor's Office Chief Assistant Prosecutor Bradford Seabury will then give a presentation on the heroin and opiate epidemic.

The presentation will be followed by a panel discussion. The panelists will include Prosecutor Knapp, Chief Assistant Prosecutor Seabury, Rockaway Borough Chief of Police Douglas Scheer and Addiction Psychiatrist Dr. Mario Finkelstein.

The program will be held at the Morris County Public Safety Training Academy, 500 West Hanover Ave., Parsippany, NJ from 9:00 am to 12:00 pm. While the event is not open to the public, the media is welcome to attend.
