Morris County Prosecutor Fredric Knapp Names Captain Christoph Kimker as Acting Chief of Investigations

Morris County Prosecutor Fredric Knapp announces that Morris County Prosecutor's Office Captain Christoph Kimker has been named Acting Chief of Investigations. Acting Chief Kimker filled this role beginning on April 1, 2019 following the retirement of former Chief of Investigations Stephen F. Wilson, Jr.

Acting Chief Kimker's career in Morris County begin in 1992 as an Environmental Specialist, in which he supervised the Environmental Services Unit. In this role, he coordinated the County Environmental Health Act and the Morris County Hazardous Material Team.

In October of 2004, Acting Chief Kimker was hired by the Morris County Prosecutor's Office as a Detective and was assigned to the Major Crimes and Arson/Environmental Crimes Units. After a year in the Major Crimes Unit, he was transferred to the Specialized Crimes Division and remained assigned to the Arson/Environmental Unit. Acting Chief Kimker was assigned full time to the Arson/Environmental Unit in May of 2006.

Acting Chief Kimker was promoted to the rank of Detective Supervisor of the Arson/Environmental Crimes Unit in 2013. After a year in that role, he was transferred to the Major Crimes Unit. Over the course of the next five years, Acting Chief Kimker was promoted through the chain of command while working in the Major Crimes Unit and the Specialized Crimes Division, and was promoted to Captain of the Specialized Crimes Division and the Family Division in August of 2018.

Throughout his career, Acting Chief Kimker has served on the WMD Assessment Team, was a Team Leader and member of the Crisis Negotiation Team, and the Rapid Deployment Team. He is also a certified Office Firearms Instructor.

Prosecutor Knapp said, Over the past 15 years, Acting Chief Kimker has served our office with distinction. His years of experience in this office have extensively prepared him for his new role and I know he will do an exemplary job as Chief of Investigations.
