On April 10, 2019, Morris County Prosecutor Fredric Knapp and members of the Morris County Prosecutor's Office joined the Morris County Board of Chosen Freeholders and representatives of Deirdre's House to recognize National Child Abuse Prevention Month. Deirdre's House is Morris County's center for child victims of abuse and/or neglect. Created in 1994 to ensure that child victims could comfortably navigate the criminal justice system, Deirdre's House is the only site in Morris County where juvenile victims can be interviewed and digitally recorded by law enforcement, medically examined and treated by pediatric abuse specialists, prepared for trial, and clinically counselled in the same building.
Morris County Freeholder Director Douglas Cabana presented a proclamation to Deirdre's House Executive Director Maria Vinci-Savettiere in recognition and support of National Child Abuse Prevention Month, which is observed every April. Deirdre's House and the Morris County Prosecutor's Office work closely to ensure juvenile victims of crimes involving abuse and/or neglect receive the necessary support and treatment.
Prosecutor Knapp said, The Morris County Prosecutor's Office stands in support with the talented staff of Deirdre's House. They provide critical services for child victims in Morris County on a daily basis. We are proud to work so closely with Maria and her staff.
