Members of Morris County Prosecutor's Office Participate in Leadership Excellence-Direct Results (LEDR) Criminal Justice Day

On August 14, 2019, Morris County Prosecutor's Office Supervising Assistant Prosecutor Melanie Smith, Detective Supervisor Thomas Joiner, and Detective Supervisor Patrick LaGuerre presented at Criminal Justice Day sponsored by Leadership Excellence Direct Results (LEDR) and Team Eagle Foundation Youth Strategic Mentoring in partnership with the Boy Scouts of America at the Morris County Correctional Facility. Approximately 35 students were in attendance at the program to learn about careers in Criminal Justice.

Supervising Assistant Prosecutor Smith and Detective Supervisor Joiner spoke about the role the Morris County Prosecutor's Office plays in the community as the chief law enforcement agency of Morris County. They also discussed the various career paths available for the students interested in a career in law enforcement. Following Supervising Assistant Prosecutor Smith and Detective Supervisor Joiner, Detective Supervisor LaGuerre presented on cyber bullying. He covered what constitutes cyber bullying, the penalties that can result from committing cyber bullying, and how to properly report any cyber bullying they may be aware of. After the presentations, a question and answer session was held for the students in attendance.

Morris County Prosecutor Fredric Knapp said, The Morris County Prosecutor's Office will continue to present at programs which enable the young people in our community to learn more about prospective careers in law enforcement. I would like to thank the LEDR, Team Eagle Foundation and the Boy Scouts of America for inviting our office to participate in this program and the Morris County Sheriff's Office for hosting the program at the Morris County Correctional Facility.
