On September 11, 2019, Supervising Assistant Prosecutor Samantha DeNegri and Detective Supervisor Patrick LaGuerre of the Morris County Prosecutor's Office provided an informational assembly for all students at Randolph Middle School. The presentation focused on safe internet practices, bias crimes and bias incidents. Also in attendance were Morris County Prosecutor Fredric M. Knapp who gave opening remarks, and school Principal Dr. Dennis Copeland.
This program was one of many that Supervising Assistant Prosecutor DeNegri and Detective Supervisor LaGuerre have conducted at schools throughout Morris County. They stressed the importance of teaching students the impact of making poor choices as a juvenile may have later in their lives. The students were instructed on the consequences that can occur from committing a bias crime, the differences between a bias crime and a bias incident, and the importance of practicing safe internet skills. Following the presentation, students were able to ask any questions about what they learned.
