On November 6, 2019, Supervising Assistant Prosecutor Samantha DeNegri and Detective Supervisor Patrick LaGuerre of the Morris County Prosecutor's Office provided an informational assembly for all students at Frelinghuysen Middle School. The presentation focused on safe internet practices, bias crimes and bias incidents.
This program was one of many that Supervising Assistant Prosecutor DeNegri and Detective Supervisor LaGuerre have conducted at schools throughout Morris County. They stressed the importance of teaching students the impact that making poor choices as a juvenile may have later in their lives. The students were instructed on the consequences that can occur from committing a bias crime, the differences between a bias crime and a bias incident, and the importance of practicing safe internet skills. Following the presentation, students were able to ask any questions about what they learned today.
Morris County Prosecutor Fredric Knapp said, The Morris County Prosecutor's Office works regularly with educators throughout Morris County to teach students about bias and internet safety. Our goal is to provide important information to assist young people in making good life choices."
