Man Indicted for Attempted Murder in Connection with Shooting in Washington Township

Morris County Prosecutor Fredric M. Knapp, Morris County Prosecutor's Office Acting Chief of Investigations Christoph Kimker, and Chief Jeffrey Almer of the Washington Township Police Department announce that Michael Barisone, age 54, of West Mill Road, Washington Township, has been indicted on charges related to a shooting that occurred on August 7, 2019 in Washington Township.

On December 18, 2019, an indictment was returned charging Barisone with two (2) counts of attempted murder, crimes of the first degree, and two (2) counts of possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose, crimes of the second degree.

The charges in the indictment are related to an incident that occurred on August 7, 2019 in Washington Township. At approximately 2:13 p.m., police received a 911 call from a female reporting gunshot wounds. Washington Township Police responded to the scene and located one female who had sustained what appeared to be multiple gunshot wounds. The defendant, Michael Barisone, and a second male victim were also located at the scene. A handgun was also recovered. The investigation would reveal Barisone to have allegedly fired the gun during the incident.

The charges and allegations contained in the indictment are merely accusations and the defendant is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty in a court of law.
