Man Arrested in Washington Township for Possession & Intent to Distribute Illegal Narcotics Following a Joint Investigation by Federal, County and Local Law Enforcement

Morris County Prosecutor Fredric M. Knapp, Morris County Acting Chief of Investigations Chris Kimker, Washington Township Police Chief Jeffrey Almer and Inspector in Charge James Buthorn, Newark Division, from the United States Postal Inspection Service announce the arrest of John F. Geiger, following an investigation into the delivery of controlled dangerous substances via the United States Postal Service. This investigation culminated on September 2, 2020 when law enforcement officers from multiple agencies executed two (2) search warrants in Washington Township, Morris County, which resulted in the seizure of approximately 45 grams of cocaine, approximately 97 pills of suspected alprazolam (Xanax), two (2) vials of suspected anabolic steroids, and approximately seven (7) grams of suspected methamphetamine. The methamphetamine was intercepted by the United States Postal Service.
The following individual was arrested as a result of this investigation.
John F. Geiger, age 39, of Hackettstown, NJ, was charged with the following:
- 1 count of Second-Degree Possession of Cocaine with Intent to Distribute
- 1 count of Third-Degree Possession of Alprazolam with Intent to Distribute
- 1 count of Third-Degree Possession of Methamphetamine
- 1 count of Third-Degree Possession of Cocaine
- 1 count of Third-Degree Possession of Steroids
- 1 count of Fourth-Degree Possession With Intent to Distribute Drug Paraphernalia
- 1 count of Disorderly Persons Possession of Drug Paraphernalia
Geiger is currently being supervised by probation and is currently a Somerset County Drug Court participant. He is in custody at the Morris County Correctional Facility, pending a detention hearing.
Washington Township Police Detective Bureau lead the investigation.

A criminal complaint is merely an accusation. Despite this accusation, this defendant is presumed innocent until he is proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt in a court of law.
