MCPO Announces the Implementation of Driving While Intoxicated Checkpoints

Published on December 01, 2013

Acting Morris County Prosecutor Fredric M. Knapp and Chief of Investigations John R. Speirs announce the implementation of Driving While Intoxicated checkpoints throughout Morris County. The checkpoints will go into effect beginning with the holiday season and continuing through September 2014.
The checkpoints are a result of a grant the Morris County Prosecutor's Office has received from the State Division of Highway Traffic Safety Administration to conduct DWI checkpoints at various locations throughout Morris County.  The County DWI Enforcement Grant is designed to establish checkpoints in cooperation with municipal police departments throughout Morris County.
The checkpoints will begin operation on December 13, 2013.  On that date, a checkpoint is scheduled in Denville Township. On December 20, 2013, there will be checkpoints in Morristown and again in Denville Township.  Further dates will be announced in the future.
