Morris County Prosecutor Fredric M. Knapp and Rockaway Borough Police Chief Doug Scheer announce that the Morris County Prosecutor's Office and Rockaway Borough Police Department will hold a joint program on the Heroin and Opiate epidemic affecting the community.
The event is scheduled for Tuesday, June 7, 2016 from 7:30 pm to 9:30 pm at the Morris Hills High School Auditorium, 520 West Main Street, Rockaway, NJ. The program is open to the entire community.
Speakers will include Morris County Prosecutor Fredric M. Knapp, Morris County Chief Assistant Prosecutor Brad Seabury, and Police Chief Doug Scheer from the Rockaway Borough Police Department. The focus of the program will be to provide an overview of the Heroin and Opiate epidemic and to inform the community about what is being done by law enforcement to combat the problem. Representatives from CARESNJ and Morris County Prevention is Key will also give presentations about intervention and recovery from drug addiction.
After the presentations, there will be an open discussion between the speakers and the audience about the Heroin and Opiate epidemic. Volunteers whose lives have been touched by Heroin addiction will also be present to have one on one discussions during and after the event.
The Heroin and Opiate epidemic is destroying individuals and their families said Prosecutor Knapp. Educating our residents about this issue that confronts our communities is just one approach that the Morris County Prosecutor's Office has taken to address this plague he said.
