THE STATE HAS ADVISED THAT ELECTRONICALLY STOLEN SNAP/WFNJ BENEFITS ARE NO LONGER BEING REPLACED. THE STATE IS CREATING SAFETY FEATURES WHICH WILL BE COMING OUT SOON.

On Saturday, April 28, 2018, the Morris County Prosecutor's Office participated in National Prescription Drug Take-Back Day in partnership with local police departments. Morris County Prosecutor Fredric Knapp, Morris County Prosecutor's Office Chief of Investigations John Speirs, Morris Plains Borough Police Chief Jason A. Kohn, Morris Township Police Chief Mark DiCarlo, Hanover Township Police Chief Mark Roddy, and Randolph Township Police Chief David Stokoe all supported this initiative and ensured that it ran smoothly.
Members of the Morris County community were encouraged to drop off unused or expired prescription and over-the-counter medicines at three separate locations throughout the day. These locations were the Stop and Shop Supermarket in Morris Plains, the Shoprite of Greater Morristown in East Hanover, and the ACME Supermarket in Randolph. All of the drugs returned at these sites will be destroyed by law enforcement officials in an environmentally safe manner.

This national event plays an important role in the Morris County Prosecutor's Office's efforts in combatting the Heroin and Opioid Epidemic, as well as the goal to continue making Morris County as safe as possible. It allows the community to dispose of these drugs in a stress-free manner, while raising awareness about the dangers of abusing medications.
