The Vietnam Wall
When Vietnam veteran John Devitt attended the 1982 dedication of The Wall in Washington, he felt the positive power of the memorial.
He vowed to share that experience with those who did not have the opportunity to go to Washington. Along with fellow Vietnam veterans Norris Shears, Gerry Haver, and other veteran volunteers, they constructed a half-size replica of the Vietnam Veterans Memorial Wall.
In October of 1984, The Moving Wall went on display for the first time in Tyler, Texas.
In 2022, a video containing the names of Morris County soldiers listed on the Vietnam Wall was played during a press release conference announcing the return of The Moving Wall to Morris County.
The Moving Wall is a half-sized replica of the Wall and travels the country.
