Community Movie Night for Juneteenth 2024

The Morris County Human Relations Commission is a co-sponsor of the Juneteenth 2024 Community Movie Night at County College of Morris on Saturday, June 15, 2024, at 6:00 p.m. The film is 35 minutes long followed by a panel discussion. Please use this RSVP HERE link to register. Note that due to a miscommunication, the Commission is incorrectly listed as “Morris County Human Rights Commission.” That is the one to check off.

By way of a quick overview, a rough outline of the two-hour (6-8PM) "Run of Show" follows.

a. Welcome & Introduction (~5 mins) – Cliff Dawkins, Esq. (RU Law) & Tammy Dawkins (CCM) (Event Co-MCs)

i.Singing of Black National Anthem

ii.Invocation - Rev. Dr. J. E. Woods of St. Phillips Baptist Church, Hamilton, NJ (tentative)

b. Thank You & Presentation of Partners/ Sponsors (~20 mins)

i. Rutgers Law School, Minority Student Program ("MSP") – Dean Cliff Dawkins;

ii. County College of Morris, The Academic Success Center ("TASC") – Tammy Dawkins;

1.Tammy will speak on behalf of all partnering CCs;

2. Tammy will also introduce BSU at CCM's President and Admins. for a welcome;

iii. Saint Elizabeth University, EOF – Mr. J.  Pastino;

iv. Morris County NAACP – President V. Brown;

v. Urban League of Morris County – Chairman G. Martin;

vi. Alpha Phi Alpha – VP M. Turner/Voteless People Chairman, D. Burrell, Esq.;

d. Film Screening & Talkback Panel(~1.5 hours) 

i. Showing of the Film (approx. 40 mins runtime)

ii. Talk-Back Panel (ft): 

Dean Cliff Dawkins (moderator), Dean & Director of RU Law MSP & Managing Partner at D&W Law Group;

Professor Randolph McLaughlin, professor of law at Pace Law School and lead attorney on the case in the film (confirmed);

Professor Betty Lewis Laurence, adjunct professor at Pace Law School and attorney on the case in the film (confirmed); and 

Donita Judge, Esq., current Associate Executive Director of the Center for Constitutional Rights ("CCR"), the legal advocacy organization behind the case in the film. (confirmed);
