Awesome Animal Artists – Virtual

Wednesday, Dec. 16, 4 p.m. – 4:45 p.m.  Cost: $6 per child. Preregistration is required.  Register here or call 973.635.6629.

In this LIVE, virtual program, learn to draw a native animal and create your own masterpiece! Guess the animal of the month with clues, then learn all the facts about this animal’s life before learning to draw it using simple shapes and lines, guided by Miss Jenny of Great Swamp Outdoor Education Center. You’ll be amazed at what you can do! Program is geared toward ages 5 & up.

Festive Parlor Tour – Virtual

Friday, Dec. 18, 2:30-3:30 p.m. Cost: $10 per person. Register here!

Take a festive virtual tour of the parlors of the Vail House at Historic Speedwell and The Willows at Fosterfields Living Historical Farm. Ring in the holiday season while both mansions are decked out in traditional holiday delights with ornaments, popcorn strings, and wreaths of holly berries. All ages.

Join Horticultural staff members to learn the tricks of the trade to make a green centerpiece perfect for the holiday table. Greens and mechanics will be provided prior to class but feel free to supplement with your own extra greens, decorations, and more.   Upon registration, make arrangements to pick up the materials.

Winter Arrangements for Youngsters – Virtual

Tuesday, Dec. 22, 4-5 p.m., Cost is $20 per child including materials.  Register here!

Going Green: Using season greens and festive supplies, young arrangers will create a winter arrangement perfect for the holiday table. All materials will be supplied.  The program is geared toward ages 6 – 12. Location: Virtual event presented by Frelinghuysen Arboretum.

Join the staff of the Great Swamp Outdoor Education Center for Virtual Wild About Winter Mini-Camp. Time off from school is a great time to learn about nature! In this LIVE, virtual program, discover the crazy things that wildlife does to survive the winter cold, how to read animal tracks, and what turkeys do all winter! Enjoy crafts and stories, and finish the day with a packet of other activities to try! Sign up for one or more days, as your schedule allows. Participants must call ahead to pick up their materials at the Great Swamp OEC in Chatham.
