Municipal Alliance Sponsors Events to Prevent Addiction and Abuse
Runners, walkers and spectators are invited to the 6th Annual Municipal Alliance 5K Color Run in Wharton on Oct. 4. The run is a fundraiser to support efforts to prevent addiction and abuse.
Runners in both the 5K and a 1-Mile Fun Run will take to the course as spectators toss colored powders at the racers. The 5K course is set on a USA Track & Field certified course. Registration, the starting line and finish line are all located at Alfred MacKinnon Middle School, 137 E. Central Ave. in Wharton.
Registration begins at 8 a.m. Admission is $10 for the 5K and includes a t-shirt, medal, color packet and glasses. White masks and color packets will be available for purchase. Social distancing will be enforced at the run.

The 5K race is sponsored by Municipal Alliance through a grant from the Governor’s Council on Alcohol and Drug Abuse.
The Municipal Alliance sponsors educational and natural-high events for children and families. Guest speakers educate youth and parents on drug and alcohol addiction, cyber safety and human trafficking, gangs and suicide prevention. Events include Narcan training, training for those who serve alcohol in bars and restaurants, and community events such as dances, movie nights, trips, laser tag, a carnival and scholarships.
