Expect Closure Next Week — Beginning June 15

The New Jersey Department of Transportation today announced the Route 46 eastbound U-turn ramp at Reservoir Road in Washington Township will be closed and detoured for approximately one week next week as a state pavement project advances.

Beginning at 7 a.m., Monday, June 15, and until 3 p.m., Monday, June 22, NJDOT’s contractor Crisdel Group, will close the Route 46 eastbound ramp to Route 46 westbound for concrete pavement repair. The following signed detour will be in place.

Route 46 eastbound ramp to Route 46 westbound detour

  • Motorists on Route 46 eastbound wanting to make a U-turn onto Route 46 westbound near Reservoir Road will be directed to continue on Route 46 eastbound
  • Take Route 46 eastbound to Drakestown Road
  • Take the left exit at Drakestown Road to make a U-turn onto Route 46 westbound

The $8 million dollar state-funded project will extend the pavement life, improve safety and enhance ride quality for motorists.  In addition to milling and paving, the project will make drainage improvements and ADA-upgrades to sidewalks and intersections. The project is expected to be complete by fall 2020.

Variable messaging signs are being utilized to provide advance notification to the motoring public of all traffic pattern changes associated with the work. NJDOT will provide more information before any lane closures are scheduled.

The precise timing of the work is subject to change due to weather or other factors. Motorists are encouraged to check NJDOT’s traffic information website www.511nj.org for construction updates.
