Table of Hope, Interfaith Food Pantry, Nourish NJ and Others on the Frontline
With an increasing number of county residents in need of food since they are out of work due to COVID-19, food pantries and soup kitchens across Morris County are stepping up to help, but they have a growing need for donations of food, volunteers and money to help those in need.
That need cuts across the county, from larger pantries and kitchens to smaller community providers, who are working on the front lines to help county residents.
“These dedicated groups are working hard to help many of our county residents who are struggling to survive during this difficult period, so we ask that you help them by volunteering or helping in any way you can” said Morris County Freeholder Kathy DeFillippo, who is the county governing board’s Human Services liaison.
For example, Table of Hope run by the Spring Street Community Development Corporation www.springstreetcdc.org has embarked on a new mobile food delivery project, the Table of Hope Mobile Food Pantry, to distribute food to communities and food pantries throughout the 39 municipalities in Morris County.
Beginning on Friday (April 3), Table of Hope, which is an agency of the Community Food Bank of New Jersey will deliver FREE groceries, including fresh produce, dairy and canned goods, to more than 200 families in Parsippany and Dover.
Table of Hope in a public message this week, stated: “Because this crisis is evolving and rapidly changing, our response is also constantly changing. In order to meet the needs of Morris county families we are asking for your financial support and volunteers to address these real time changes.”
