Residents Invited to Monday, Feb. 10, Public Meeting for Budget Briefing
The Morris County Board of Freeholders are scheduled to introduce county government’s proposed $315.8 million 2020 county budget at the board’s public meeting on Monday, Feb. 10, at 7 p.m. at the County Administration and Records Building in Morristown.
Members of the Freeholder’s Budget Subcommittee will outline the proposed budget, which will offer financing for enhanced services in critical areas, such as infrastructure, public safety, and social services.
Freeholders Deborah Smith, Kathy DeFillippo, and John Krickus comprise the budget subcommittee.
“We want to ensure that mayors, other elected officials, and county residents have an opportunity to understand the county spending plan, to provide insight into how we develop the budget, and our timeline for introduction,’’ said Freeholder Director Smith, who chairs the subcommittee. “We invite interested officials and residents to attend,’’ she added.
Residents will be able to comment on the proposed financial plan during the public comment period that evening, prior to the anticipated budget adoption at the March 11 meeting, which also will include a public hearing. You also can send budget questions to the freeholders.
The proposed 2020 budget will be made available at Monday’s (Feb. 10) meeting and subsequently will be posted online.
The freeholders’ public meeting will be held in the public meeting room on the 5th floor in the Administration and Records Building, which is located at 10 Court Street, Morristown, N.J. 07963.
