The County of Morris is seeking a qualified clerk candidate to work in the Office of Planning and Preservation. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

Essential Functions and Responsibilities

  • Provide technical clerical assistance to the Office of Planning & Preservation
  • Answering and directing office phone calls
  • Welcoming and assisting visitors to the office
  • Date stamping and sorting office mail and package deliveries
  • Filing, making copies, preparing materials for meetings, data entry and other routine office work.


  • High School Graduate or GED.
  • Self-motivated and the ability to work on multiple tasks at the same time
  • The ability to work independently and with a team.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word; familiarity with other Microsoft Office programs, including Excel and Access, and Adobe programs is a plus.
  • Ability to read, write, speak, understand, and communicate in English sufficiently to perform the duties of the position
  • Knowledge of office routines, equipment and practices after a period of training.
  • Provide general, routine information in person and over the telephone; refer complicated or non-routine inquiries to appropriate staff

NOTE: If not currently a New Jersey resident, the successful applicants must become a resident of New Jersey within one year of hire date and appointees will be required to possess a driver’s license valid in New Jersey.

Starting Salary Range is $28,804 to $31,615 dependent on experience and skills.
