Morris County Park Commission Environmental Education department have a few openings in the Adventures in Nature Summer Day Camps at the Great Swamp OEC in Chatham or at Pyramid Mountain in Montville.

Camp opportunities are available for youth ages 2-17, including counselors in training. All camps are based on the age your child is at the time of the camp. NEW this year is our Theater in the Woods summer camp the week of August 26 – 30. It is for ages 8 – 12 and lets you child’s creative side flow!

Morris Park System Offers Adventures in Nature Summer Camps

Woodsy Walkers
Introduce your kids to the nature camp experience. Little campers, accompanied by an adult, explore the trails and explore a variety of natural history topics with stories, games, walks and activities.
For ages 2 – 4 with an adult; Wednesday – Friday, 10 – 11:30 a.m. Cost: $50/camper per session

June 19 – 21 (2 spots left) OR July 10 – 12 (open) at the Great Swamp OEC in Chatham.

The Wild Things: Sense-ational
Youngsters experience the natural world with all five senses and discover how animals use their sense to survive!
For ages 5 to 7; Monday – Friday, 9 a.m. – 2 p.m. Cost: $200/camper per week

July 1 – 5 (cost $160 – no camp 7/4) (open)
July 22 – 26 & July 29 – August 2 (both are full, accepting waitlist)

Art and Nature Camp
Enjoy a week of drawing, journaling, painting, and crafts with the natural world for inspiration.  Kids create masterpieces and learn all about wildlife and habitats at the same time.
For ages 6 to 9 ; Monday – Friday, 9 a.m. – 2 p.m. Cost: $250/camper per week

Survivor: Wilderness
Could you survive in the wilds of NJ? Nature provides for our basic needs and kids learn orienteering, shelter-building, wild edibles plants, animals tracking, and more. The last day features a mini backpacking experience with a picnic at another park.
For ages 8 to 10; Monday – Friday, 9 a.m. – 2 p.m. (Last day 9 a.m. – 3 p.m.) Cost: $220/camper per week

Wild Explorers
Spend each day of camp on a different adventure around northern New Jersey. Swim in a lake,
hike the trails, learn to canoe, and more! Finish the week with a campfire and roasted marshmallows
For ages 11 to 14; Monday – Friday, 9 a.m. – 3 p.m. Cost: $320/camper per week

Theater in the Woods
Explore nature through theater and music performance. Campers are introduced to various means of storytelling followed by the creation of their own songs, set, costumes, and script as they write and produce their own nature themed play. Camp also includes hikes and games. The week concludes with a performance of their masterpiece to which parents are invited..
For ages 8 to 12; Monday – Friday, 9 a.m. – 2 p.m. Cost: $250/camper per week

Counselors-in-Training
Teenagers who enjoy the outdoors and working with young children can gain resume-building experience and knowledge by becoming CITs! For two weeks, CITs work with campers, are mentored and trained by camp staff. Training topics include natural history, how to work with children, and a final leadership project.
Interested teens need to complete an application and submit a letter of recommendation.
Upon completion, CITs receive a certificate detailing their hours of service.
For ages 14 to 17; Monday – Friday, 8:30 a.m. – 3:30 p.m. Cost: $200/CIT
July 22 – August 2, weekdays only at the Great Swamp OEC in Chatham (still accepting applications).
