Morris Township and Chatham Township Runs Benefit Charities

Both Morris Township and Chatham Township will host Turkey Trot runs on Thanksgiving morning to benefit good causes.

Each run offers a UTAF-certified 5K and family run, starting early enough to make it for Thanksgiving Dinner.

Read, Feed and Run! The 12th Annual Morris Township Turkey Trot offers runners and walkers a chance to fight hunger and promote literacy. The event benefits the Interfaith Food Pantry and Resource Center, and Literacy Volunteers of Morris County. The fun starts at Ginty Field Complex on Woodland Avenue in Morris Township. Two Morris Turkey Trots Planned for Thanksgiving Morning

  • Events offered are a 5K run, 1-mile fun run and walk, and a Kids Trot sprint for youngsters 12 and under.
  • The improved course is UTAF Certified with a runner-friendly start and 500 USATF-NJ Grand prix points.
  • Car pooling is encouraged.
  • 7 a.m. packet pickup and new registration; events begin at 8:30 a.m.
  • Strollers are allowed on the 1-mile event only. Pets are not allowed.
  • Sponsorships are still available; the event draws 3,000 runners and spectators.
  • Online registration ends at midnight, Nov. 20. Fees range from $10-$35.


Volunteer emergency responders and diabetes charities are the beneficiaries of Chatham Township’s 10th Annual Turkey Trot that takes runners through the Highlands section of Chatham Township.  Funds raised benefit the Chatham Township Volunteer Fire Department, the Diabetes Research Institute, the Chatham Emergency Squad and The Barton Center for Diabetes Education. The race takes place at 110 Van Houton Ave., Chatham Township.
