Morris County Library Sponsors Contest

The Morris County Library is pleased to announce the 2018 Young People’s Creative Writing Contest for Morris County residents ages 10-18.

Morris Teens: Creative Writing Contest for Poetry and Short StoryEntrants may submit entries in two categories, poetry or short stories, for a chance to win gift card prizes. Entries may be submitted between Oct. 7 and Nov. 4.

Prize winners will be announced in January 2019. All entrants will have the opportunity to share their writing at the library’s Open Mic night in February. Get more information and instructions on how to enter here. Or, visit the library’s teen page.

The start of the contest coincides with the beginning of Teen Read Week™, a national adolescent literacy initiative created by the Young Adult Library Services Association. The theme of this year’s Teen Read Week is “It’s Written in the Stars: READ.”

At Morris County Library our mission is to encourage young people to be regular readers and library users, and it is our hope that this contest provides an outlet for youth and teens from all over Morris County to express their creativity and connect with the resources and services that Morris County Library offers.

Morris Teens: Creative Writing Contest for Poetry and Short StoryMorris County Library is funded directly by the County Freeholders as a hub for learning, information, entertainment, and creative exchange. In addition to offering new books, research help, public computers, and public programs for adults, teens, and children, the county library supplements Morris County’s municipal libraries with its extensive reference and circulating collections, public meeting rooms, Libraries-by-Mail and other county-wide initiatives.
