Madison-Based Team Shoots for the Title
The national championship game for the National Premier Soccer League will be played right here in Morris County as FC Motown takes on Miami FC 2 at Drew University’s Ranger Stadium in Madison on Saturday. Kickoff is at 7:30 p.m.
During its first year in the semi-professional division, FC Motown emerged to top a field of 98 teams in the NPSL, which is akin to the AA minor league in baseball. The team originated in 2012 as a co-ed recreational team with No Idea Sports before moving to dominate the amateur Garden State Soccer League for five years.
Morris County high school soccer standout Dilly Duka of Montville plays for FC Motown. Delbarton School graduates Scott Kindzierski and Dan Karosen are owners.
Tickets for the game are $10 at the gate for adults and FREE for anyone under 17 and for Drew University students with a student ID. Parking is free and located adjacent to Ranger Stadium. The game also will live stream on npsl.com starting at 7 p.m.
FC Motown went 9-1 in the regular season, winning conference and regional titles. None of the FC Motown players or owners are paid; it is one of the top amateur soccer teams in the country.
Good luck to FC Motown!
