Good afternoon,

The Morris County Office of Emergency Management had a briefing with JCP&L earlier today. We understand, based on that briefing, that there are currently more than 35,000 customers without power.

Last evening at 7 p.m. JCP&L concluded the “Make Safe” effort. Today, they are finishing up clearing and opening roadways so they can make a significant transition to restoration of power. JCP&L has brought in additional outside contractors, who arrived in Morris County this morning.

Based on data provided by JCP&&L, these are tentative total restoration times:

  • Southern Morris County, Tuesday, March 6,  by 11:30 p.m.;
  • Northern Morris County,  Wednesday, March 7, by 11:30 p.m.

We have some schools in Morris County that are without power. While they are considered critical facilities, the restoration dates/times mentioned above also apply to the schools.

During the morning briefing, JCP&L advised the county OEM they still have facilities and residences that have not been entered into their outage system.

It is imperative that all locations without power are entered into their system. To report outages, customers may call 1-888-LIGHTSS (888-544-4877), go to, or click on the “Report Outage” link on

This is what gives JCP&L the ability to manage the prioritization process and make sure all power is restored.

We have been in communication with our Morris County Municipal Coordinators in all of our Morris County municipalities.

We have asked that local warming stations be identified for residents should they be necessary. Please check your local municipalities website for site location and hours of operation.

Due to the magnitude of the outage, getting specific information on the restoration time for a particular neighborhood or street in your jurisdiction is not possible at this time while JCP&L remains in storm mode. Please DO Not call 911 to inquire about outages and repair times.

We understand this is a difficult situation for many families who have been impacted by the storm. Remember that JCP&L has activated the residential Ice and Water program. Impacted residents can go numerous locations to get free water and/or ice. Click here for the locations.
