CELEBRATING 25 YEARS OF GINGERBREAD WONDER’’ AT FRELINGHUYSEN
VISIT A KINGDOM MADE OF CANDY CANES, CHOCOLATE AND GUM DROPS
The 2016 version on the Morris County Park Commission’s annual “Gingerbread Wonderland and Craft Show’’ will kick off it’s 10-day run this Friday, Dec.2, at the Frelinghuysen Arboretum in Morris Township.
This December marks the 25th Anniversary of Gingerbread Wonderland. You will marvel at the creativity, skill, and sense of optimism that characterizes this charming and ecumenical exhibit of hundreds of edible structures.
More than 10,000 visitors come to arboretum each year to view more than 200 incredible and edible gingerbread creations.
Past creations have included models of Notre Dame Cathedral, Hanukah menorahs, Santa’s Workshop, Japanese temples, a nutcracker, Chinese pagodas, European castles, neighborhood sweet shops, a grand piano, the nutcracker, and even the White House.
“The Gingerbread Wonderland and Craft Show is a special event because it celebrates the imagination and creativity of the many participants,” said Lesley Parness, Superintendent of Horticultural Education at the Morris County Park Commission.
Gingerbread Wonderland is held daily from Friday, Dec. 2 through Sunday, Dec. 11, from 10 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. daily, except for a 7:30 p.m. closing time on Friday, Dec. 2 and 9.
The Holiday Craft Show is only open on weekends, Dec. 3 & 4, and Dec. 10 & 11.
Artists and crafters offer a variety of unique handmade gifts. Different crafters setup displays each weekend to provide a wide selection of products. And don’t forget to stop in Matilda’s Café for a snack.
Admission is $2 per person and children under 2 are FREE. Reservations are required for groups of 8 or more. Call 973.326.7601.
