Two Overnight Ramp Closures Necessary for Construction Project to Advance
New Jersey Department of Transportation has just announced that it plans two consecutive I-280 westbound ramp closures during the overnight hours TONIGHT and into early Tuesday morning, first at New Road and then at I-80 westbound local, for a resurfacing project in Parsippany.
Beginning at 10 p.m. TONIGHT Monday, Oct. 31, and continuing until 1 a.m. Tuesday, Nov. 1, DOT’s contractor, Intercounty Paving Associates, is scheduled to temporarily close the ramp from New Road to I-280 westbound in Parsippany for milling, paving and stripping work. Resurfacing on the ramp is expect to be completed overnight.
Immediately after the resurfacing work is done, the New Road ramp will reopen.
Then, from 1 a.m. to 5 a.m., resurfacing will begin on the exit ramp from I-280 westbound to Route 80 westbound local in Parsippany.
Only one ramp will be closed at a time during construction. But motorists should expect overnight delays. The work on both ramps should be completed in time for Tuesday morning commuting hours.
The following signed ramp detour is expected to be in place TONIGHT from 10 p.m. until 1 a.m.

The following signed ramp detour will start once the above work is complete and reopened to traffic. The detour is expected OVERNIGHT Tonight from 1 a.m. until 5 a.m.

Variable message signs are being utilized throughout the project limits to provide advance notification to motorists of all traffic pattern changes associated with the interchange improvements project. Throughout the project, NJDOT will provide information before upcoming road or ramp closures.
