“GUITARBEQUE’’ FEATURES AWARD WINNING BARBEQUE AND BLUES
Indulge in an afternoon of tasty barbeque and some great blues at the Guitarbeque charity fundraiser to be held in Boonton on Saturday, Sept. 10, from noon to 5 p.m.
Featured acts will include Slam Allen, 2016 Blues Music Awards nominee for Best New CD; Australian blues guitarist Geoff Achison; and Jersey’s own Barbecue Bob & the Spareribs.
It all happens on the great lawn of the Boonton United Methodist Church at 626 Lathrop Ave in Boonton.
All proceeds will benefit charitable causes, including “A Future with Hope,’’ which targeted families still trying to recover from Superstorm Sandy.
Through “Music Mission’’ shows and the collective efforts of more than 500 United Methodist churches, 239 homes have been rebuilt for displaced victims of Superstorm Sandy, with a goal of 300.
Funding also will go to Imagine NO Malaria, a program to cut malaria deaths in half with bed nets and other resources; and to local projects, such as a Boonton food pantry and organic garden that serves community members in need.
For barbeque lovers, pulled pork, brisket, ribs, and more will be available for purchase by competition pit-masters Texas Smoke BBQ of Jefferson. Veggie burgers, hot dogs, popcorn, and ice cream from Curly’s also will be offered. Lawn chairs and blankets are welcome.
Tickets for the Guitarbeque are $20, with children 12 and under admitted FREE. They may be purchased online at www.TheMusicMission.org. Call 973-334-8654 for further information.
