Morris County CrimeStoppers CRIME OF THE WEEK

You could receive a REWARD of up to $1,000

Morris County CrimeStoppers has announced that three armed gas station robberies in Netcong and Rockaway Twp. are the latest Crime of the Week, and is asking for the public’s help to solve them.

Suspect in Valero robberies taken by store camera

On July 26 at 3:36 a.m. and Aug. 2 at 3:12 a.m., the Valero Gas Station, located on Routes 46 and 183 in Netcong, was subject to armed robberies. Both robberies appear to be the same person. He was described as a white male, about 5-foot-10 to 5-foot-11, wearing a black hoodie, blue jeans, dark colored shoes, a black mask and glasses.  The suspect is said to have entered the gas station property on foot from Route 46 and robbed an employee at gun point.

In a separate Aug. 2 incident, the suspect made off with approximately $180 in cash, then fled the scene back onto Route 46 East towards Roxbury in a gray four-door sedan.

This is similar to an armed robbery that occurred on July 19 at the Shell gas station on Green Pond Road in Rockaway Township.  The suspect in that robbery brandished a handgun, demanded money and fled on foot with $500 in cash.
