The Morris County Library will offer an expert Frisbee demonstration by two recent inductees into the International Frisbee Hall of Fame on Saturday afternoon on the grounds outside the county library in Hanover Township.

Jens and Erwin Velasquez, who live in Morristown and Belleville respectively, will show off some of the moves that have made them top international Frisbee competitors and past world champions. Their routines include a variety of trick throws, spins and rolls, and a bit of Frisbee choreography.

The free event will take place at 1 p.m. at the library, which (for GPS) is located 30 E Hanover Ave, Whippany, NJ 07981. The library also has an indoor Frisbee display that features  a variety of Frisbees of all styles, sizes and ages.

The Frisbee (so-named in 1957 by Wham-O co-founder Richard Knerr to stimulate sales) is a flying disc whose origins date to the late 1800’s in the throwing of pie plates. It has come a long way since those days, with the formation of an International Frisbee Association and sports such as Frisbee golf, Frisbee football, and Ultimate Frisbee.

In 1998 the Frisbee was inducted into the National Toy Hall of Fame.
