Morris County Prosecutor Fredric M. Knapp and Lincoln Park Police Chief Mark West announce the arrest of Nicola S. Granata, 33, of Lincoln Park, on charges of second degree sexual assault and fourth degree criminal sexual contact.
Granata was charged with one count of sexual assault in violation of N.J.S.A. 2C:14-2c(1), a crime of the second degree, and two (2) counts of criminal sexual contact in violation of N.J.S.A. 2C:14-3b, a crime of the fourth degree.
The victim reported to law enforcement that she went to defendant’s residence as a customer to have her hair styled by the Granata. The defendant then allegedly engaged in acts of non-consensual sexual contact and penetration against the victim.
Superior Court Judge Thomas Critchley set bail today for Granata in the amount of $40,000 with a 10 percent option, and with an additional condition of no contact with the victim.
Prosecutor Knapp would like to thank the Lincoln Park Police Department, specifically, Detective/Sergeant Joseph Zammit and Detective Michael Bono, as well as the Morris County Prosecutor’s Office Sex Crimes/Child Endangerment Unit.
Anyone with information about this incident is asked to contact Detective Marshall Wang of the Sex Crimes/Child Endangerment Unit of the Morris County Prosecutor’s Office at 973-285-6200 or the Lincoln Park Police Department at 973-694-5533.
A criminal complaint is merely an accusation. Despite this accusation, the defendant is presumed innocent until he is proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt in a court of law.
