The Morris County Prosecutor’s Office and Mendham Township Police Department are seeking information from the public regarding an ongoing fire investigation.


On Tuesday February 24, at 2 a.m., the historic Pitney Farm, located at 1 Cold Hill Road, Mendham Township, was severely damaged by a fire.  The structure was vacant at the time of the blaze.

The investigation of the fire remains active and ongoing.  It is being conducted by the Morris County Prosecutor’s Office – Arson/Environmental Crimes Unit, the Mendham Township Police Department, and the Morris County Sheriff’s Office – Criminal Investigation Section.

At this time, this fire has been determined to be caused by a human act, and is being investigated as an act of arson.
