Morris County Prosecutor Fredric M. Knapp and Dover Police Department Director Dominick Saldida continue to appeal to the public for assistance with regard to an arson investigation into a recent Dover structure fire.
On Monday, Feb. 8, members of the Dover Fire and Police Departments, Morris County Prosecutor’s Office Arson and Environmental Crimes Unit, Morris County Sheriff’s Criminal Investigation Section (CIS) and Morris County Sheriff’s Emergency Services Unit (K9) were dispatched to 136 Prospect Street in Dover on a report of a multi-dwelling structure fire.
The fire was extinguished without injury to any occupants or first responders. However, the blaze caused extensive damage to the residence. The fire originated on the exterior of the structure. The cause of the fire was determined to be an act of arson. The investigation is ongoing.
