The Morris County Park Commission is partnering with Whole Foods Market stores in Madison, Millburn-Union, and West Orange to offer area youngsters an exciting day of service and inspiration at Fosterfields Living HistoricalFarm in Morris Township on Saturday, Sept. 14.
This educational kid-friendly event encourages children of all ages to roll up their sleeves and help prepare the farm for fall and winter, allowing them to learn how seasonal farms operate. Volunteer activities include harvesting pumpkins and/or potatoes, churning cream into butter, painting the chicken coop, grinding corn and chickenfeed and more.
Registration is required and all attendees under the age of 18 must be accompanied by an adult or bring a signed waiver form to the event. For a complete list of activities and to sign up for Kids Day of Service at Fosterfields New Jersey’s first Living Historical Farm, please visit wfmfosterfields.eventbrite.com.
The Park Commission is excited about its partnership with Whole Foods and Fosterfields, said David Helmer, Morris County Park Commission executive director.
“The opportunity to provide Whole Foods Market customers and their families with a connection to Fosterfields furthers the connection between Market and Farm,” Helmer said. “Both Fosterfields and Whole Foods strive to provide the best products and experiences to their customers and Kids Day of Service is emblematic of both entities commitment to their communities.”
The family-friendly event will start promptly at 10 a.m. and run for about three hours, with a build-your-own salad bar for children and adults served at noon.
Fosterfields Living Historical Farm is located at 73 Kahdena Road in Morris Township. Directions and event information are available by calling Fosterfields at 973-326-7645.
