The Morris County Clerk’s Office is offering county residents affected by Hurricane Sandy free copies of their deeds to file claims with their insurance companies or with the Federal Emergency Management Agency.

County Clerk Joan Bramhall said a storm-impacted homeowner just has to call her office at 973-285-6747 and provide the property owner’s name, the property’s address and the approximate date of the deed transfer.

Requests for a copy of a deed or questions about the offer may also be e-mailed to Bramhall at [email protected], she said.

Normally, a copy of a deed can be obtained from the County Clerk’s Office for $10 for the first page and $1 for each additional page.

The Morris County Clerk’s Office is on the first floor of the county Administration and Records Building, 10 Court St., in Morristown.
